Locally-Owned Vision Care Center, P.C. to expand business with the acquisition of Washington practice
Peoria, IL (July 14, 2017) – Vision Care Center, P.C. of Peoria, IL is proud to announce its expansion with the acquisition of Thomas Eye Care of Washington, IL. Dr. Roger Fitch, optometrist and founder of Vision Care Center, is excited for this new opportunity. “We are thrilled to expand into Tazewell County to be able to provide our service-focused vision care to patients throughout Central Illinois.”
Dr. Tina Thomas approached Dr. Fitch and his associate Dr. Timothy Cundiff about this opportunity in 2016. Dr. Thomas plans to take some time off and to pursue new endeavors in her career. “My top priority was to make sure that my patients at Thomas Eye Care will continue to receive high quality care from a trusted local practice and that was why I approached Drs. Fitch and Cundiff,” said Thomas.
Vision Care Center, P.C. was established in 1987 by Dr. Fitch. This October will mark 30 years of providing vision care to the patients of the area. In 2008, Dr. Cundiff joined the practice. “Technically, I’ve been in the practice since second grade when I got my first pair of eyeglasses from Dr. Fitch,” said Cundiff. “It has been wonderful having the opportunity to work alongside Dr. Fitch and to provide our eye care services to our terrific community”.
This expansion will provide better reach and the ability to extend their service and dedication to both sides of the Illinois River. In order to help accommodate the expanded patient volume, Vision Care Center is hiring a new optometrist to join their team – Dr. Paul Velting. The Michigan native has made his home in Morton and will play a key role in serving the patients in the Washington office.
Dr. Thomas has great faith in transferring her patients to the care of the optometrists at Vision Care Center. “I am impressed with the caliber of talent and quality of care demonstrated by Drs. Fitch, Cundiff, and Velting.”
The practice transfer from Thomas Eye Care to Vision Care Center will take place later this month. The new ownership will officially begin on July 20th which will coincide with the “Back to School” season when many school children receive their eye exams.

Vision Care Center – Peoria Office
VCC is located at 4900 N. Glen Park Place, Suite C, Peoria, IL 61614. The practice was established by Dr. Roger Fitch in 1987. It is a premier office for eye care services which has grown over the past three decades. The Mission Statement of the practice is: To serve Central Illinois by providing the most complete eye care experience in a friendly, family atmosphere. VCC provides primary care optometry to patients of all ages – from eyeglasses and contact lenses to medical treatment for such eye diseases as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and dry eye syndrome. VCC provides emergency eyecare for eye injuries and infections (conjunctivitis, pink eye, etc). VCC specializes in vision therapy – providing advanced visual training to patients with vision-related academic problems (convergence, tracking, accommodation problems and amblyopia – “lazy eye”) and patients who have suffered from traumatic brain injuries (head trauma, stroke, concussion).
Vision Care Center – Washington Office
Formerly Thomas Eye Care, the new VCC office is located at 1009 N. Cummings Lane, Washington, IL 61571. Thomas Eye Care was opened by Dr. Tina Thomas in 2011. VCC will begin ownership on July 20, 2017. The practice will continue to provide primary care optometry to patients of all ages – with specialty in contact lenses, particularly patients with challenging conditions (keratoconus, high astigmatism, etc).
