Peoria, IL (May 1, 2020) – Vision Care Center – with locations in Peoria and Washington – is proud to announce its expansion by adding a new optometrist to the team. Dr. Roger Fitch, optometrist and founder of Vision Care Center, is excited to bring a friend and longtime colleague onto the team.
Dr. Ron Suarez will officially be joining the Vision Care Center team on May 4, 2020. But he has been a familiar face within the Vision Care Center family for two decades.
In 1991, Dr. Fitch began Vision Care Outreach as a branch of Vision Care Center to provide eye care to residents of nursing homes and residential care facilities throughout Central Illinois. In 1996, Dr. Suarez joined Vision Care Outreach as the company began to expand the area of coverage. Over the past 28 years, Vision Care Outreach has provided care to over 50 different facilities.
So, for 23 years, Dr. Suarez has been affiliated with the Vision Care Center family and now he takes on a new role as staff optometrist. While still providing nursing home care one day each week, Dr. Suarez will now be seeing patients in both our Peoria and Washington offices. This move – along with Dr. Paul Velting continuing to serve part-time – will bring the Washington Office to doctor coverage all week long. Dr. Fitch and Dr. Timothy Cundiff will continue to serve patients in the Peoria Office. And please do not be concerned. Dr. Fitch is not retiring!
Along with the staffing updates, Vision Care Center is preparing for a re-launch of full scope optometric care – including routine exams – on May 4th. VCC has remained open during this time but has only been able to provide emergency care. With updated guidelines from the CDC, we are now permitted to resume routine eye care. Stay tuned for further updates regarding new social distancing guidelines. VCC is taking the utmost precautionary measures to ensure the safety of our patients, our staff, our doctors, and our community. We look forward to seeing you back at the office very soon!
